Confidential Reporting
If you are the victim of a crime and do not want to pursue actions within the University system or the criminal justice system, you may still want to consider making a confidential report. With your permission, the Chief of Police or a designee of University Police can file a report on the details of the incident without revealing your identity. Crime tips andinformation can also be anonymously reported via the University's EthicPoint's website located at at https://secure.ethicspoint.com/domain/en/report_custom.asp?clientid=14973. The purpose of a confidential report is to comply with your wish to keep the matter confidential, while taking steps to ensure the future safety of yourself and others. With such information, the University can keep an accurate record of the number of incidents involving students, determine where there is a pattern of crime with regard to a particular location, method, or assailant, and alert the campus community to potenial danger. Reports filed in this manner are counted and disclosed in the annual crimes statistics for the institution.

Crime Log
The University Police maintains a crime log of reported criminal activity occuring on campus and within jurisdictional boundaries. The crime log may be accessed 24 hours a day on the University Police website at: http://www.uccs.edu/~pusafety/police/blotter/. The information in the crime log typically includes the case number, classification, date and time reported, date and time occurred, general location, names of adults arrested, and disposition of the crime.

Timely Warnings and Crime Alerts
Timely Warnings are made to the community when known crime risks might endanger students, employees or visitors on campus or areas close to our campus community. These alerts and warnings are generally written and approved by the Chief of police or his/her designee and distributed by the University Police communications Center. Should the University Police Communications Center not be available, the Timely Warning will be distributed by the UCCS Director of Emergency Management or a member of the UCCS Emergency Operations Center (EOC) team.

Crime Alerts are usually distributed for the following Uniform Crime Reporting Program (UCR)/National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS) classifications: arson, criminal homicide, and robbery. Incidents of aggravated assault and sex offenses are considered on a case-by-case basis, depending on the facts of the case and the information known by University Police. For example, if an assault occurs between two students who have a disagreement, there may be no on-going threat to other UCCS community members and a Crime Alert would not be distributed. The UCCS Chief of Police or his/her designee reviews all reports to determine if there is an on-going threat to the comunity and if the distribution of a Crime Alert is warranted. Crime Alerts may also be posted for other crime classifications, as deemed necessary. These reports are made using one or a combination of the following methods:
