My name is Amy Ritter and I'm a senior at University of Colorado-Colorado Springs. Last year, I
transferred in from Texas. I have a Bachelor of Social Work from New Mexico State University. In my
life, I've had the great advantage to live in various states in the U.S. and to come into contact with a
wide variety of cultures. Currently, I'm pursuing the prerequisites required for entrance into med school.
I'm enrolled in physics, organic chemistry, nutrition, and cell biology. Ultimately, I'd like to work as a
doctor in the ER or do family practice. I will be applying to Texas A&M University, University of Texas
Health Science Center at San Antonio, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, Southwestern
Medical Center at Dallas, University of Texas-Galveston, University of Texas-Houston, and the University
of New Mexico.
It's important that a person realizes all of the necessary steps to get into med school. Hopefully, the
club will be able to make the task a little less mysterious and daunting. By various guest lectures and
meetings, students should be able to explore the various fields of medicine. This can help a student
decide if medicine is the right career for them and what field interests them.
