Marion Sondermann Scholarship

The Marion Sondermann Scholarship encourages the combined study of Economics and Political Science by funding merit-based scholarships for undergraduate students majoring in either Political Science or Economics at UCCS.

One merit-based scholarship will be awarded per academic year. Please review the requirements below:

  • Declared major in either Political Science or Economics.
  • Must have completed a minimum of nine (9) credit hours of course work in one discipline (Political Science or Economics) and at least six (6) credit hours of course work in the other (Political Science or Economics).
  • Must have completed a minimum of forty-five (45) semester hours overall.
  • Must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 and a minimum grade point average of 3.5 in either Political Science or Economics.
  • Must be enrolled at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs for a least nine (9) credit hours during any semester in which they receive the award.
  • Is required to have or place a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file with the Office of Financial Aid.

To apply:

Please submit a universal application and a letter of application (addressed to the Political Science and Economics departments, Columbine Hall, Room 3016) stating your accomplishments and career goals to the Office of Financial Aid/Student Employment. The letters will be reviewed by the Political Science and Economics department Chairs and the Dean of the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. The winner will be notified following the determination of the selection committee.

The award amounts, application deadlines, and announcement of winners are variable. When they are determined, they will be posted on the News and Announcements section of the website.

This is a merit-based scholarship, awarded without regard to race, ethnicity, gender or religion.
