Programs for Educators

Excellent science, math and technology teachers are the long-term solution to increasing the number of students interested in science, math and technology. Strong teaching creates engaged students. Please look over our programs for experienced science, math and technology teachers as well as the programs for early career teachers.

PIPES Educator Academy Professional Development Program (formerly PPRISM)

The PIPES Educator Academy is designed for teachers (6th grade and up) who would like to increase their content knowledge in physics, chemistry, biology, and geology while also exploring inquiry based teaching techniques for the secondary classroom.

The Pikes Peak Math Teacher Circle

The Pikes Peam Math Teacher Circle (PPMTC) is an opportunity to learn strategies that create an atmosphere of creative problem solving for students as well as engage in a vibrant learning community of area teachers, mathematicians, and professionals. Learn how to infuse critical thinking and problem solving skill into an already busy math curriculum.

Faculty Dialogues

ACT , in a 2007 study, identified the differences in perception between high school teachers and college faculty in the key things that a student needs to know to successfully transition from high school to college. In an effort to increase alignment of the two environments PIPES is offering an open dialogue opportunity between secondary science and math departments, and their counterparts in post-secondary education.

These dialogues are scheduled on a request basis and open to both middle school and high school teachers. To request a dialoge between your department and the corresponding UCCS department please email or call Dave Khaliqi at dkhaliqi@uccs.edu or 255-3595.
