Spring 2010 New Student Orientation

Volunteer Orientation Advisors

Volunteer Advisors are UCCS Faculty and Staff members who work alongside the Academic Advisors from the Student Success Center at freshmen orientation sessions. We gather in Columbine Hall classrooms on orientation days to give new students help with their first college schedules and to provide information about degree plans.

As a Volunteer Orientation Advisor, you will....

  • Assist Academic Advisors with advising freshmen on class schedules and degree plans.

  • Be a determining factor in a student’s decision to choose our campus.

  • Get to know students from the incoming freshmen class.

  • Work with staff and faculty members you might not get to know otherwise.

  • Receive volunteer training to learn, or brush up on, aspects of academic advising.

  • Enjoy lunch with students, guests, staff, and faculty.

  • Reward yourself by spending a few days in an unusual and fun endeavor!

There will be two sessions of advising on each of the following dates (a lunch is provided immediately after the first session). We ask that you commit to at least  three advising sessions:

Sat. May 16 11:00am - 1:00pm and/or 2:15pm to 4:15pm
Fri. May 29 11:00am - 1:00pm and/or 2:15pm to 4:15pm
