NISSSC CENTER SHARES IN $1,000,000 MATH IMPROVEMENT GRANT FROM THE COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION! (11/09/09) New!
The Center for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Education based at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs will share in a $1 million grant to provide professional development for secondary school math teachers in the Eagle County Schools.

Xiaobo (Joe) Zhou, associate professor, Department of Computer Science, College of Engineering and Applied Science, was recently awarded a five-year, $400,000 grant from The National Science Foundation’s (NSF) Early CAREER Development Program.

TRAUMA, HEALTH & HAZARDS CENTER TO COLLABORATE WITH THE WARSAW SCHOOL OF PSYCHOLOGY! (9/4/09)
THHC signed a memorandum of understanding with the Warsaw School of Social Psychology in Warsaw Poland.  Through a unique collaboration between Dr. Roman Cieslak and Dr. Charles Benight, the two institutions will pursue collaborative work in the area of trauma psychology.

The Center for Space Studies begins their research efforts on the Emergency Response Operations System Integration project (EROSI) by desiging a page on Wikipedia that provides an overview of emergency management software systems.

UCCS ESTABLISHES PARTNERSHIP WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF ZAGREB, REPUBLIC OF CROATIA: (7/7/09)
UCCS has established a partnership with the University and City of Zagreb, Republic of Croatia.   The University of Zagreb is the oldest (established in 1669) and biggest (60,000 students) university in South-Eastern Europe. The Center for Homeland Security will develop and deliver several courses in homeland security and assist the University of Zagreb in establishing a regional (Eastern Europe) Center of Excellence in Homeland Security.

All four centers of the National Institute of Science, Space and Security Centers have moved into their new setting on the main campus of UCCS. This brings them under the same roof for the first time since their conception.

Kurt A. Johnson, an attorney who served as the senior legal advisor to the Commander of NORAD and USNORTHCOM from 2005 to 2008, has been selected as the Center for Homeland Security ’s Associate Director of Homeland Defense/Homeland Security Government and Private Sector Programs.
