M. SCOTT TRIMBOLI

Dr. M. Scott Trimboli is the Director of the Center for Space Studies (CSS), a component of the National Institute of Science, Space and Security Centers (NISSSC) at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. The Center is focused on promoting space through research, education and outreach in service to our nation and for the betterment of society. In addition to serving as CSS director, Dr. Trimboli is on the faculty of the College of Engineering and Applied Science where he directs masters degree programs in Systems Engineering, Engineering Management, and Space Operations; he also teaches undergraduate and graduate control theory within the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
Dr. Trimboli served for more than 20 years in the Air Force as an engineer and academic before retiring in the rank on Lieutenant Colonel. Subsequently, he held various positions in both commercial and defense industry before joining the staff of the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs in 2007. Dr. Trimboli began his military career as an aerospace engineer serving at Eglin AFB, FL. He held two teaching appointments within the Department of Astronautics at the U.S. Air Force Academy and was selected for the prestigious AFOSR Engineer and Scientist Exchance Program in 1991 where he worked as control systems expert on a multi-national research team for the German Aerospace Research Establishment. He later served as director of the first worldwide operational test of the secure Milstar satellite communications system. His industry experience includes positions with two commercial software companies where he worked as a director of product strategy and as a program manager for a cutting edge information fusion and data visualization system. His research interests include multivariable robust control, model predictive control, and information fusion.
