Unlocking
The Potential…
The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS) is a
premier educational organization with a well established reputation as a
university that has the vision for graduating students who meet market place
skills on a global scale. As a result, establishing an Institute with integrated Centers
to focus on problem solving at federal, state and local levels with potential
international relevance was a prudent, logical step.
In 2005, The National
Institute of Science, Space and Security Centers (the current NISSSC) was
established to better focus on developing and implementing sound academic and
research deliverables in the science, space and security disciplines, for
meeting the nation’s challenges. The
original NISSC transitioned to the Center for Homeland Security (CHS). NISSSC
includes CHS plus three additional Centers that were organized and integrated
into the Institute: the Center for Space
Studies (CSS); the Center for Science, Technology, Engineering &
Mathematics Education (CSTEME); and the Trauma, Health & Hazards Center
(THHC).
Today, NISSSC, building on its
roots in the Southern Colorado
region is a critical asset to the nation and is a recognized leader in providing realistic
solutions and replication models for a host of applications. We are unlocking the potential for
collaboration in science, space and security.
