Information about MathOnline Courses and the MathOnline Registration Process

Updated for SPRING 2010

COURSE SCHEDULES: The 'synchronous' versions of these courses meet at the indicated times (Mountain Time Zone). However, students may participate 'asynchronously' in these courses by watching and listening to the archived lectures via the Internet at their convenience. It is our experience that students who participate 'asynchronously' maximize their potential for success by scheduling set times during each week in which to review the archived lectures.

CLASSES BEGIN: Tuesday, January 19, 2010 and run through Friday, May 7, 2010. Exact dates and times of final exams will be announced during the first week of classes. There are no classes during Spring Break, March 22-28, 2010.

TUITION:

MATH 311-Number Theory (3credit hours) $773
MATH 340-Differential Equations (3 credit hours) $773
MATH 136- Calculus II (4 credit hours) $899
MATH 235- Calculus III (4 credit hours) $899

*There are no additional university-related fees associated with these courses!

COURSE MATERIALS: Students must obtain the course textbook and have access to appropriate technology.  Visit the Required Course Materials page or contact the course instructor for information about the textbook associated with your course(s). Textbooks can be ordered on line at http://www.uccsbookstore.com/home.aspx. Username and passwords will be distributed to registered students before the semester begins. Please contact our Tech Support, , if you have login problems. Some courses require an additional software package (such as Maple or Matlab); contact the course instructor, or see Required Course Material page for details. These software packages are available in many university bookstores, or can be ordered online. (Maple: http://www.maplesoft.com; Scientific Notebook: http://www.mackichan.com; Matlab: http://www.matlab.com.)

REGISTRATION PROCESS. If the only UCCS course(s) for which you are registering during SPRING Semester 2010 is a MathOnline course, then you do NOT need to complete the standard university registration process.  All registration and payment processes are done through the MathOnline office.  Any and all questions about enrollment, tuition, etc... should be directed to the MathOnline program, NOT to the UCCS registrar. For questions about the registration process, contact (719) 255-4071. Send inquiries to lases@uccs.edu.

WITHDRAWALS: Enrollment in MathOnline courses is limited, and determined on a first‐come first‐serve basis. Withdrawals may be accomplished within the UCCS online registration system until the census date for these courses, Wednesday, February 3, 2010. For withdrawals accomplished before this date, a 100% tuition refund will be issued. The MathOnline Program will reserve the right to withhold tuition refunds up to 100% of tuition paid for withdrawals made after this date.

NOTE:
We believe that MathOnline courses effectively provide high‐quality, university‐level mathematics courses to high school and other students. However, our experience indicates that a number of factors (including a student’s independence in learning, level of motivation, and discipline in study) play important roles in determining a student’s chances for success in these courses. With this in mind, please read Words of Caution prior to completing the registration process.
