Reviewing for the Math Classes


The math department often receives the question, “What should I review before my math class starts?”  We’ve put together some problems in the Study Plan
of mymathtest to help you prepare for your 100 level math course.  There are worked examples, step by step tutorials and videos to help you review topics to
help you prepare for your math class.

In order to access this material, you’ll need to use create an account with mymathtest.com.  This is the same software you’ll have to use for the math placement
test and the fee required for the math placement test includes access to these review materials.  (CLICK HERE for more information about creating an account

Accessing the Review Materials in MyMathTest

  1. Go to www.mymathtest.com
  2. Enter your username and password that you established when setting up your account for the math placement test.  The code you purchase is valid for 16 weeks. 
    If you haven’t set up an account yet, CLICK HERE for instructions.

  3. Click to enter the program you’re signed up for.

  4. If you know the topic you want to review, on the left of the screen, click on “Study Plan”. 
    If you don’t know the topic you want to review see the ** note below the table.

  5. Click on the section you would like to study.  (See the table below to determine which sections are recommended for each class.)  When you click on the section
    you would like to work on,  the software will bring up sub-topics of this section.  Click on a sub-topic then select a problem.

  6. When you click on a problem within the study plan, you will have the option of having the software help you solve the problem, seeing a worked example or
    (for some problems) seeing a video that explains the material.

  7. Work through the various problems until you feel comfortable with the prerequisite material for the course.

**If you don’t know which topics you need to review, you can use the review tests in the system.   After following steps 1-3 above, click on “Take a Test”.  Select
the appropriate test or tests.  After working through the appropriate test(s) for the class you’d like to review for, return to the Study Plan.  The items you should
study will be marked with a pencil.
