CU - Succeed (http://www.uccs.edu/math/cusucceed.html)
Through our ongoing discussions with high school mathematics teachers throughout
the Pikes Peak region, we have come to discover that many of the "precalculus" or "mathematical analysis" courses taught at various high schools are quite
close in content and spirit to the CU - Colorado Springs course Elementary
Functions of Calculus (Math 105). In the CU - Succeed program, students who
successfully complete the "precalculus" course in their high school
simultaneously earn credit for the university-level Math 105 course. Similarly,
AB Calculus classes match with our Calculus 1 class and Calculus BC
matches with our Calculus 1 and 2 classes and AP Statistics matches with our Math 281.
In the context of this program the duties of the high school teacher remain
unchanged. The work required of students remains unchanged. The successful
implementation of this program at a particular high school requires curricular
and administrative coordination at the beginning of the academic year.
Students are charged a nominal fee for administrative
processing.
