The Hawkins Random Sieve

Tuesday, Mar. 16, 11:00-12:00

A simple probabilistic variation of Eratosthenes' sieve may be used to create sequences of Hawkins primes.
We will see that the Hawkins primes are a reasonable model for the `real' primes and that they provide
tantalizing evidence concerning the distribution of the primes. We will also discuss a natural generalization
 of the Hawkins model.
