The conference focused on recent developments in the fields of nonlinear waves and integrable systems. International experts presented their current research in applied areas such as nonlinear optics and Bose-Einstein condensates as well as in theoretical areas, which include inverse scattering theory and connections of soliton equations with geometry. The conference was held on the occasion of Professor Mark Ablowitz's 60th birthday, in recognition of his contributions to the field of applied mathematics.
