El Pomar Center was completed in March 2001 at a total cost of $28,661,679. Construction of the building was made possible by a $4,000,000 grant from the El Pomar Foundation and a $1,127,400 gift from the CU Foundation. Other sources of funding included $21,766,443 from the Colorado State Construction Budget, and student fees.
Shepley Bulfinch Richardson and Abbott was the Concept Planning and Design Team for El Pomar Center. SBRA is one of the country's foremost academic building design firms, with a specialized expertise in academic libraries. H+L Architecture was the Architecture and Project Management Team for El Pomar Center. Formed in 1969, it is a Colorado based company with a strong local perspective and history of work with the University of Colorado System.
El Pomar Center houses the campus' Information Technology Services and the Kraemer Family Library.
