Finding Full Text in PubMed

Note: For PubMed to display links to the Kraemer Family Library's Electronic Journal Holdings, you must do one of the following:

Search UCCS icon

When using either of these options, the Search UCCS icon appears at the citation level on the PubMed results. Click on the icon to search the library's Electronic and Print Journal Holdings for the article.

You will still have to login into the Library VPN if accessing electronic journals off campus.


Setting up a My NCBI Account with the OutSide Tool

My NCBI is a service offered by PubMed where users can create accounts to save searches and results, be alerted with new results for saved searches as well as directly link to the Kraemer Family Library's Print and Electronic Journal Holdings. You will still have to login into the Library VPN if accessing electronic journals off campus.

To set up a My NCBI Account:

  1. Click Register at the top of the page or click on My NCBI (links are highlighted in image)

  2. Create a User Name and a Password.
  3. An email address is optional, but note that only one email address may be associated with that account.

After setting up a My NCBI Account, you need to add the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs to your Outside Tool preference.

To add an Outside Tool preference:

  1. Sign in to My NCBI.
  2. Click the My NCBI link located on the left side of the page.
  3. Choose Preferences found on the right of the screen under Table of Contents.
  4. Under PubMed Preferences, choose Outside Tool.
  5. highlights the Outside Tool link on the left side of the My NCBI page
  6. Scroll down the page to find and select the University of Colorado of Colorado Springs from the list and click Save.
  7. Your outside tool preference is in effect only when you are signed in to My NCBI.

Once this preference has been added, whenever you sign into your My NCBI account, you will see the Search UCCS icon at the citation level.
