Listed below are several sources and tools either owned by Kraemer Family Library or accessible from the Kraemer Family Library web site. All electronic resources may be searched from any computer connected to the UCCS network.
Researching off campus? Except for the Kraemer Library Catalog and Prospector, you will need to install the Library VPN to access the Library's electronic resources from off campus.
Reference sources are a great place to start your research. Reference sources include encyclopedias, dictionaries, and handbooks that provide basic introductions to broad subject areas, unfamiliar concepts, ideas, events, people, and places. These resources often contain bibliographies that identify major primary and secondary sources on a topic.
The Reference Collection is located right behind the Reference Desk on the 2nd floor of El Pomar Center. Use the Kraemer Library Catalog to locate reference books, both in print and electronic formats. Use one of the following two methods:

Kraemer Library Catalog
Provides access to books, audio visual materials and other print resources at Kraemer Family Library.
Prospector
The Colorado Unified Catalog. Search and request books and multi-media materials from 23 research and public
library collections throughout the state of Colorado and Wyoming. Note: you may not request articles or journals through Prospector.

Use periodical indexes and databases to find articles in magazines, newspapers and journals. From the library home page select the link, Select a Database. Under the Subject listings select General Databases. If you wish to look at databases that focus on a particular discipline, look under the appropriate subject heading.

Provides full text for more than 3,430 scholarly publications covering academic areas of study including social sciences, humanities, education, computer sciences, engineering, language and linguistics, arts & literature, medical sciences, and ethnic studies. It also includes book reviews. This database is updated on a daily basis.
Scopus Elsevier
Scopus is a amazing indexing and abstracting tool that covers journal literature in the physical, health, life, and social sciences. It provides access to over 26 million abstracts (going back to 1966) and 10 years of reference backfiles.The database itself contains no full-text, but DON'T let that stop you from using it! Links to full-text in our print and electronic collections are provided.
Academic OneFile Gale/Infotrac
Contains indesing and abstracting for peer-reviewed literature from many leading journals and reference sources in the physical sciences, technology, medicine, social sciences, the arts, theology, literature and other subjects. Includes full-text coverage of the New York Times back to 1995.
WilsonWeb OmniFile Full Text Mega Wilson
Contains indexing, abstracting, and full-text from the following databases: Education Index, General Science Index, Humanities Index, Readers' Guide, Social Sciences Index, and Wilson Business Index. In addition, the Mega edition presents complete indexing, abstracting, and some full text from the journals in Applied Science & Technology Index, Art Index, Biological & Agricultural Index, Index to Legal Periodicals Full Text, and Library Literature & Information Science Index.

PsycINFO EBSCOhost
PsycINFO covers the professional and academic literature in psychology and related disciplines, including medicine, psychiatry, nursing, sociology, education, pharmacology, physiology, linguistics, and other areas. The database includes information from empirical studies, case studies, surveys, bibliographies, literature reviews, discussion articles, conference reports and dissertations. PsycINFO is the world's most comprehensive source for bibliographic coverage of psychology and behavioral sciences literature.
Business Source Premier EBSCOhost
Provides full text for over 2,710 scholarly business journals covering management, economics, finance, accounting, international business and much more.This database is updated on a daily basis.
Communication and Mass Media Complete EBSCOhost
Provides indexing and full-text to literature related to communication and mass media. CMMC incorporates two popular databases in the fields of communication and mass media studies -- CommSearch (formerly produced by the National Communication Association (NCA)), and Mass Media Articles Index(formerly produced by Pennsylvania State University). In addition, CMMC offers full-text for over 200 titles.
ERIC (education) EBSCOhost
A comprehensive education database that includes journal articles, books, theses, curricula, conference papers, standards and guidelines. Articles from over 775 periodicals.
Sociological Abstracts Proquest/CSA
Abstracts and indexes the international literature in sociology and related disciplines in the social and behavioral sciences. An excellent resource for any sociology related topic.
If you already have a citation to a journal article that you would like to read, the easiest way to find it is to click the link, Find Journals By Title or ISSN, on the Kraemer Family Library home page. In the search box, enter the name of journal inwhich the article appears. The results screen will tell you:
If the journal is not available through Kraemer Family Library, you may request the article through the ILLiad Interlibrary Loan Service.
If the Library doesn't have access to the article you want, you can still get it through the Library's ILLiad Interlibrary Loan service. With an ILLiad account, you can place your requests online and be sent an electronic copy of the article you requested. This service can take anywhere from a few days to two weeks depending on the journal.
