Before you Start
Researching off campus?
You'll need to install the Library VPN to access the library's resources. Directions for Installing the Library VPN.
ILLiad
If the Library doesn't have access to the article you want, you can still get it through interlibrary loan. With an ILLiad account, you can place your requests online and be sent an electronic copy of the article you requested. This service can take anywhere from a few days to two weeks depending on the journal.
Searching Databases
From the Library's main page, go to Select a Database. You can then select from the alphabetical list of databases or go to a specific topic area. Communication is one of the subject areas you can choose.
Communication and Mass Media Complete
The most comprehensive database for all areas of communication.
Communication Abstracts
Coverage includes not only communication literature but also literature in other disciplines that is relevant to communication researchers. Covers the international literature in film studies, the role of technology in human communications, risk communication, crisis communication and public opinions (1977-present)
Related Disciplines Databases
Databases listed under Related Disciplines provide coverage for more specific communication topics such as organizational communication, interpersonal communication, health communication, etc.

Can't find what you are looking for in the Library? Here are a few solutions:
Prospector
A Colorado state wide library catalog that includes both public and academic libraries. If you find the title in Prospector you can initiate your request on the spot. The book will be sent to our Library for you to pick up and check out. It will take 3-5 business days for books to arrive.
WorldCat
An international library catalog that allows UCCS students, staff and faculty to request items not available at UCCS or Prospector. You need an ILLiad account to request items in WorldCat. Items can take 2 weeks or more to be delivered.
Internet Resources
Communication Institute for Online Scholarship
This site offers a variety of links to information on organizations, discussion groups, and indexes to communication literature. Some material is restricted to members only.
