Kraemer Library Catalog
The online catalog that searches for books, movies and government documents at UCCS.
Can't find what you are looking for in the Library? Here a few solutions:
Prospector
A Colorado state wide library catalog that includes both public and academic libraries. An excellent resource, but it will take 3-5 business days for books to arrive.
WorldCat
An international library catalog that allows UCCS students, staff and faculty to request items not available at UCCS or Prospector. You need an ILLiad account to request items in WorldCat. Items can take 2 weeks or more to be delivered.
Researching off campus?
You'll need to install the Library VPN to access the library's resources. Directions for Installing the Library VPN.
Journal Search - Search or browse all the journals available in print or electronic format in the Library. Excellent way to find full-text from a citation.
Core Journals
These are journals that are noted as "best" in the general criminal justice discipline. You can use these to search for articles or go directly to an article database listed below.
Databases search through thousands of newspaper, magazine and journal articles. See all Criminal Justice databases.
Note: Most databases allow you to limit your search to "peer reviewed" or "scholarly" journals only, but still check the article to verify it is not an editorial or letter. Editorials and letters, etc., do not usually go through a peer reviewed process.
ILLiad
If the Library doesn't have access to the article you want, you can still get it through interlibrary loan. With an ILLiad account, you can place your requests online and be sent an electronic copy of the article you requested. This service can take anywhere from a few days to two weeks depending on the journal.
Criminal Justice Periodicals Index
A comprehensive database of U.S. and international criminal justice journals. Great for searching in criminal justice, law enforcement, corrections administration, drug enforcement, rehabilitation, family law and industrial security.
Sociological Abstracts
Abstracts and indexes the international literature in sociology and related disciplines in the social and behavioral sciences. An excellent resource for any sociology related topic.
Sage Online Journals* Sage years vary-
A full-text, multidisciplinary database covering more than 520 journals in business, humanities, social sciences, and science, technology and medicine.
Academic Search Premier
A general database that covers multiple topics including sociology and ethnic studies. Contains newspapers, trade journals and academic journals.
Google Scholar
The more academic side of Google searching. Google Scholar searches journal articles, books and citations. If on campus or on the Library VPN, you can directly connect with the Library's resources.
Bureau of Justice Statistics (U.S. Department of Justice)
Releases reports and data on annual criminal justice related statistics.
National Criminal Justice Reference Service (U.S. Department of Justice)
A free, government database full of criminal justice related topics.
