LAS Extended Studies

PSY 3480-1 Sleep, Dreams and Dream Interpretation

This correspondence/e-course is designed to be a scientific introduction into the research and theories of sleep, dreaming, and dream interpretation. It begins with the physiological basis for sleep and dreams and includes an overview into the physiological structures of the brain that are thought to be responsible for sleep and dreams. The evolutionary theories of sleep and dreaming are also reviewed, including Winson's recent work on the evolution of the REM state and theta rhythm research. Also reviewed are the numerous other theories of the purposes of sleep and dream states.

This course earns one (1) semester hour of Psychology Department credit at the undergraduate level. Cost is $200. Enrolling now for the Spring 2012 semester. Coursework must be completed by May 12, 2012.

IMIMPORTANT FINANCIAL AID INFORMATION
The new UCCS registration system will make it more feasible for most students to use their financial aid to pay Extended Studies tuition. We still recommend that you contact a financial aid counselor before enrolling, to make sure this enrollment will not negatively affect your financial aid, full-time status, etc.

TUITION INFORMATION
Tuition for Spring 2012 Extended Studies courses is due by February 1, 2012. If you are registering after this date, your tuition is due immediately upon registration. Make sure to wait for your balance to appear in your online account before you make your payment. You may pay via credit card in your student account or by Electronic Funds Transfer; if you are not able to make your payment by either of these methods, please contact the Campus-Wide Extended Studies office at 719/255-3498 to set up a payment by another method. Do not wait to receive a bill; you may be charged late fees.

WITHDRAWAL INFORMATION
The withdrawal deadline for this course is March 9, 2012. If you are withdrawing before this date, you may withdraw in your student portal account and receive a full tuition refund. If you are withdrawing after this date, you must contact LAS Extended Studies at 719/255-4071 or
lases@uccs.edu to complete withdrawal paperwork; you will not receive a full tuition refund if you withdraw after this date.

Note to STUDENT SUCCESS: this course is open to all UCCS students without restriction.
