The Knapsack Institute on the Road: Transforming the Curriculum

The Knapsack Institute on the Road brings the KI, or our more limited workshops, to you. We work with Universities, K-12 schools, organizations and businesses.

knapsack

The traditional Knapsack Institute for campuses provides participants with:

• our teaching framework, based on Patricia Hill-Collin’s seminal concept, the Matrix of Domination

• teaching strategies that we have found successful, including:

- building an inclusive classroom,

- setting the stage on the first day of class,

- managing emotions and reactions in the classroom,

- dealing with resistance to change,

- empowering students toward positive growth in the classroom and beyond,

- and how to find support and resources for doing this challenging and often difficult work.

.

For K12 or non-profit organizations: We have designed special Knapsack Institutes:one that is geared specifically toward K12 educators and another that is geared toward non-profit organizations. These institutes can be further tailored to the needs of your organization.

.

We also offer the following stand-alone workshops:

-        Building an inclusive environment (classroom or organization)

-        Recruiting and retaining diverse faculty

-        Creating an inclusive curriculum

-        Dealing with emotions in the classroom

-        Empowering students

.

.

Our workshops are flexible; we tailor them to meet your needs.
