GES 501: Geographic Research
Course Description:
GES 501 is a graduate seminar for the analysis of research topics and methodologies in geography. Students will define a research topic, review literature in their field of interest, and prepare a research proposal. Required for all students in the MA of Applied Geography.
Purpose:
To first goal is to survey the scope and breadth of research in geography and learn research methods that geographers use. We will focus on the diverse ways that geographers go about explaining, interpreting, and understanding the world. The second goal is to focus graduate students on their own research topic and assist them in selecting a faculty mentor. Remember that curiosity and perseverance are the most important qualities for success in graduate school and in this course.
