It is very important that you adhere to the
following rules in order to stay in status. If you do not, depending on the
circumstances, it may be very difficult to re-instate your status. If have any
questions about maintaining status please contact ISS.
Have a valid passport and visa at all times unless you
are exempt from the passport or visa requirements.
You must notify ISS of any address and email
changes and notify Admissions and Records, within 10 days.
J1 students only: Must be
enrolled in at least 12 credit hours at all times.
You must notify ISS if were offered a job.
You must notify ISS if you are leaving the U.S.
and you must provide copies of your new documents (passport/visa and new I-94
card) once you return to Colorado Springs.
Maintain Health Insurance for your
duration of stay.

Travel
and Re-entry
If you are planning to depart and re-enter the
U.S., it is very important to have the following documents with you travel :
A valid Passport
A valid Visa. (Make sure your visa will not
expire before you return to the U.S. and that it is marked for multiple
entries.)
A valid DS-2019. (Make sure the Travel box has been signed
by ISS Director)
Insurance
J1 Students are REQUIRED to have
medical insurance, repatriation, and medical evacuation coverage. The following
are the requirements:
Medical Benefits of at least $50,000 per
person/per accident or illness.
Deductible that does not exceed $500.00 per
accident or illness.
Repatriation of remains in the amount of a least
$7,500.
Medical evacuation expenses of at least $10,000.
An international policy must be backed by the
full faith and credit of the home country government or the company providing
the insurance must meet minimum rating requirements established by the USIA.
Insurance for J-1/J-2 must be maintain for the
duration of the exchange program.
