A.C.T. FOR EQUAL TREATMENT Produced by Northern Illinois University, this video teaches students to effectively deal with sexual harassment by:

Talking to officials about episodes of sexual harassment.
The episodes on the tape are based on reported incidents of sexual harassment on the No. Illinois University campus.

COARSE WORK: CONFRONTING SEXUAL HARASSMENT

Produced by Rider College, this tape dramatizes the sexual harassment of an undergraduate by a male professor through the reenactment of a series of incidents: subtle suggestions at a social meeting, a lewd joke in class, continued pressure during an office conference. Coarse Work is designed to promote discussion on the topic of sexual harassment. A discussion guide for leaders is included.

CONFRONTING SEXUAL HARASSMENT ON CAMPUS: 11/12/92 TELECONFERENCE

A roundtable of student affairs professionals discuss sexual harassment. The discussion addresses three main topics: 1) assessing the campus environment, 2) examining the big picture of sexual harassment, 3) developing a campus action plan to combat harassment. Cultural Diversity, consensual relationships, the Anita Hill/Clarence Thomas case, and various sexual harassment myths are also discussed.

Produced by Oklahoma State University, this tape is intended for classroom use. Vignettes using university settings set up various settings. After each one there is an opportunity to pause the tape for discussion. Some of the examples used are obvious forms of harassment, while others are not so obvious. No lectures or solutions are offered. The tape is intended to stimulate discussion on the topic of sexual harassment.

An episode of TV's Cagney and Lacey provides the basis for training about sexual harassment in the workplace. Developed by The Center for Women in Government, this video is an especially good training tool for both supervisory and non-supervisor y employees in recognizing sexual harassment and what is/is not appropriate workplace behavior.

Produced by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, this tape summarizes the provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act, as they relate primarily to employment. The tape focuses on possible accommodations and remedies under the Act.

SUBSTANCE ABUSE

DRUGS AT WORK (EMPLOYEE VERSION)

This tape emphasizes the effects of drug use on the individual. The consequences of drug use are examined through interviews with past users. The intent is to encourage employees with a drug problem to seek help. Education and support are stressed.

DRUGS AT WORK (EMPLOYER VERSION)

This tape illustrates the cost of substance abuse to business and the need for employers to set up programs designed to help those employees who abuse drugs. The different treatment approaches are discussed, focusing on rehabilitation. Random testing, counseling and education in a non-adversarial atmosphere are discussed.

FINDING SOLUTIONS

This video focuses on the consequences of drug use on the job. Various approaches to addressing the problem are discussed including early identification, education and stress relieving activities during the workday. Running Time: 19 minutes

48 HOURS: RETURN TO CRACK STREET

Originally broadcast in 1989 on CBS' "48 Hours" television program, this documentary discusses the impact of crack use and possible solutions to the growing problem. interviews with law enforcement officers, addicts and others who have been affected, a s well as footage of drug busts, are used to illustrate the crack epidemic and what is being done to combat it. Treatment programs, education, legalization, tougher laws and neighborhood efforts are among the approaches discussed.

GETTING HELP (EMPLOYEE VERSION)

"Getting Help" deals with the issue of substance abuse from an employee viewpoint. Interviews with counselors, employers and employees are used to show the effect of drugs on the workplace. Sources of help available to-employees, especially Employee Assistance Programs, are examined.

GETTING HELP (EMPLOYER VERSION)

Aimed at the employer or supervisor, this tape stresses the necessity of employers to provide Employee Assistance Programs. Ways to structure a successful program are examined and successful company programs are highlighted.

SIX ORDINARY PEOPLE

Interviews with six ex-drug users illustrate the effects of drug abuse. The deterioration of these six lives due to drugs is the theme. The video ends win each telling how they got help.

20 QUESTIONS ABOUT THE DRUG-FREE WORKPLACE ACT

The Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988 represents a change in government policy in that it targets the users. This tape tries to clarify what effect this Act will have on business. Twenty questions most likely to be asked by a business are answered, including which businesses are affected, Which substances are covered by the Act, and what are He consequences of non-compliance.

RELATIONSHIPS

FILTERING PEOPLE; UNDERSTANDING AND CONFRONTING OUR PREJUDICES by Dr. Jim Cole

Aimed at the general public, this tape takes a psychological approach to prejudice. Using illustration and simple-to-understand language, Dr. Cole explains how people build and use "filters" which affect our perception of ourselves and others. The causes of prejudice and ways of overcoming prejudice are examined. Running Time: 26 minutes

INTERVENTION: CREATING AN OPPORTUNITY TO LIVE

Father Leo Booth lectures on the principles of intervention. Intervention is a means of using of crisis to make people realize that they need help. Father Booth examines how to make pain work for you. The aim is to educate anyone who knows someone with a problem on how to help that person. Problems that intervention can help range from drug abuse to co-dependence.
