Robert Sackett, European History, Department Chair

Professor Robert Sackett teaches Modern European History. A graduate of Washington University of St. Louis, where he received his Ph.D. in 1980, Rob is an authority in the field of Modern Germany, and the author of Popular Culture and Politics in Munich, 1900-1923, published in 1982 by Harvard University Press. Rob is also the author of articles in such publications as Oxford German Studies, Theory and Society, and German History.

In recent years, Rob has won a cult following across town from his appearances on CU-NET, which broadcasts many of his courses to the general viewing public in southern Colorado. His many scholarly interests include European History since the Enlightenment, Modern Germany, and the Holocaust. Rob was recently the recipient of the distinguished teaching award, given to a teacher on the UCCS campus of outstanding and recognized skill and accomplishment. Beginning in 2004, Professor Sackett has become the Chair of the History Department, along with remaining chairman of the Graduate Studies Committee of the department and Chair of the Humanities Program for the College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences at UCCS.
