UCCS Wireless Access for Windows 7

Introduction
To connect to UCCS-Wireless, your laptop must meet specific requirements to protect the network. After configuration, your computer will be checked for the following:
- All critical and security Windows updates installed
- Approved antivirus protection installed and up to date
- Approved antispyware protection installed and up to date
- Automatic Windows Updates service running
- Windows firewall enabled
- Bridging disabled
- DHCP forced
To see which antivirus and antispyware programs are acceptable and get instructions on Windows Updates, go to http://www.uccs.edu/helpdesk/wireless-accept.htm.
As part of the configuration, a Client Security Agent will be installed on your computer. You must have administrative privileges for this to work. This will show up as bncsaui.exe in the task manager.
If you are running a security program such as Norton Internet Security or McAfee which includes a personal firewall, you need to disable it until after you have successfully registered on the network. You can usually find the settings for your firewall under "Internet" or "Network" within the security program.
1. Select the Wireless Networking icon from the windows system tray in the lower right of your screen.

2. Click on UCCS-Wireless and click again on "Connect"

3. A window titled "Network Authentication" will pop up. Enter your UCCS IT username and password. Click OK. If you have logon issues, go to

4. A windows entitled "Windows Security Alert" will popup. Select "Connect"
- 5. Open an internet browser such as Internet Explorer. You will be redirected to the UCCS Network Access Control webpage. Read the terms of the End-User Agreement and check "Accept". Click the "Next" button.
- 6. Enter your UCCS IT username and password as well as a contact phone number. Enter the current building and room number in the "Room Number" field. (If you don't know the room number, just enter the building. Click the "Download" button.
- 7. Click the Save button and save the file to your Desktop. After the download has completed, run the file. Click Next when prompted and click Close when the application has installed.
- 8. Enter your UCCS IT username and password.
9. The Bradford Networks Client Security Agent will run. This can take several minutes. This program will check your computer for the following:
- Windows Updates
- Antivirus protection
- Antispyware protection
- Automatic Updates service
If you pass the security test:
10. Click the Close button. Your computer will automatically disconnect and reconnect to the wireless network, at which point you will have access to the internet. You will not be required to take the security test again for one week. If your computer fails to reconnect to the network automatically, reconnect to the wireless network manually.

BRADFORD PERSISTENT AGENT MUST STAY INSTALLED ON YOUR COMPUTER FOR? CONTINUED CONNECTIVITY TO THE UCCS-Wireless NETWORK. If the Bradford Persistent agent is uninstalled, you will not be able to connect to the UCCS-Wireless network until you re-install the program again.
