UCCS Web Servers

  • UCCS is mandating a content management system (CMS) in the near future to standardize all websites. CMS websites will reside on our Unix server and will not accept FrontPage extensions. We will no longer create FrontPage websites. Anybody with an active user account with the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs has the ability to create a webpage on the Unix server with the address www.uccs.edu/username; e.g. www.uccs.edu/jdoe. Instructions are found at the website below. If you wish to have a website with a different address (e.g. university department, club, etc.), check the website below to see if you qualify.
  • You may use FrontPage as your web editor, but you need to turn off the FrontPage extensions to prevent conflicts with Unix. Click below to get instructions on how to turn them off. Another option is using Macromedia Dreamweaver to create websites. If you prefer to code the website directly, you may use a text editor such as Microsoft Notepad which comes with Windows. See the information below under Unix Server if you code your own website.
  • We are currently working on a contract to purchase Macromedia products at a substantial discount. Please contact Brad Cook at 262-3826 if you're interested in purchasing Dreamweaver.
