Library VPN for Linux

Note: This help sheet is provided for the convenience of our Linux users. We do not have a Linux
computer at the IT Help Desk and cannot provide support.

Configuring the VPN
1. Install the PPTP client. There are installation instructions for most common distributions at http://pptpclient.sourceforge.net/documentation.phtml.
Once downloaded, run pptpconfig as root.

- 2. On the Server tab, enter the information as shown above, substituting your IT username and
password.

- 3. On the Routing tab, click "All to Tunnel".

- 4. On the DNS tab, check "Automatic" and enter "search uccs.edu" (without the
quotes) for Options.

- 5. On the Encryption tab, check "Require Microsoft Point-to-Point Encryption ..."

- 6. On the Miscellaneous tab, check "Reconnect if disconnected".

- 7. Click the Update button to save the configuration.
8. Double-click the new profile to start the connection.
Connecting to the Library

- 9. With a web browser, go to http://web.uccs.edu/library. Click Periodical Indexes by Name or
Subject or Print and Electronic Journal Holdings.

- 10. Click the Stop button when you're finished.
