Library VPN for Linux

Note: This help sheet is provided for the convenience of our Linux users. We do not have a Linux computer at the IT Help Desk and cannot provide support.

Configuring the VPN

1. Install the PPTP client. There are installation instructions for most common distributions at http://pptpclient.sourceforge.net/documentation.phtml. Once downloaded, run pptpconfig as root.

2. On the Server tab, enter the information as shown above, substituting your IT username and password.

3. On the Routing tab, click "All to Tunnel".

4. On the DNS tab, check "Automatic" and enter "search uccs.edu" (without the quotes) for Options.

5. On the Encryption tab, check "Require Microsoft Point-to-Point Encryption ..."

6. On the Miscellaneous tab, check "Reconnect if disconnected".

7. Click the Update button to save the configuration.

8. Double-click the new profile to start the connection.

9. With a web browser, go to http://web.uccs.edu/library. Click Periodical Indexes by Name or Subject or Print and Electronic Journal Holdings.

10. Click the Stop button when you're finished.
