UCCS VPN for Windows 2000

Note: This VPN does NOT allow the user to access the periodical databases on the UCCS Library website. You must use the Library VPN.

1. Click on the Start button, go to Settings, then to Network and Dial-Up Connections, and select "Make New Connection."

2. This opens the wizard. Click the Next button. Click on "Connect to a private network through the internet" and click the Next button.

3. If you have a dial-up configuration on your computer, this screen should appear next. If you have broadband, click on "Do not dial the initial connection."

4. Otherwise make sure the correct dial-up connection is shown in the box. Click the down-arrow to select a different dial-up connection. Click the Next button.

5. Type voyager.uccs.edu in the box and click the Next button.

6. Select the appropriate choice and click the Next button.

7. Type "UCCS VPN" in the box and click the Finish button.

8. Click on the Start button, go to Settings, then to Network and Dial-Up Connections, and select UCCS VPN.

9. Click the Properties button.

10. Click the Options button. Click to place a checkmark to the left of "Include Windows logon domain".

11. Click the Networking tab. With "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" highlighted, click the Properties button.

12. Click the Advanced button.

13. Click to REMOVE the checkmark in the box marked "Use default gateway on remote network". Click the OK button.

14. To use VPN, click on the Start button, go to Settings, then to Network and Dial-Up Connections, and select UCCS VPN.

15. Type your IT username and password and UFP as the domain as shown above and click the Connect button. If you have dial-up, you may have to enter the dial-up username and password on another window that pops up.

16. To access the IT accounts, click on the Start button and select Run. Type in \\excelsior.uccs.edu for student accounts or \\enterprise.uccs.edu for staff/faculty accounts. Click the OK button.

17. When you're finished, click on the Start button, go to Settings, then to Network and Dial-Up Connections, and select UCCS VPN. Click the Disconnect button.
