Library VPN (Transporter) for Macintosh OS 10.4

SUMMARY: This document will walk you through the necessary steps to set up the UCCS Library VPN (Transporter) connection in Mac OSX 10.4. The Library VPN (Transporter) connection is used to access the Kraemer Family Library journal database as well as other additional resources.

Configuring the VPN Connection

1. Open your Hard Drive icon on your desktop.

2. Open Applications and then Open Internet Connect.

3. Click the File menu and select New VPN Connection.

    Select PPTP and click Continue.

4. Type transporter.uccs.edu for Server address. Insert username@uccs.edu for Account Name. Insert your IT password for Password. Click the drop down menu Configuration and choose Edit Configurations.

5. Type UCCS Library VPN (Transporter) in the Save As field. Click the Save button.

6. Click OK.

Connecting to the Library

7. Open your Hard Drive icon on your desktop.

8. Open Applications and then Open Internet Connect.

9. Click the Connect menu and select Options. Ensure there's a check in the box Send all traffic over VPN connection. Click OK.

10. Click to select the correct VPN. The server address is transporter.uccs.edu Click the Connect button.

11. Verify the connection is established. The Status will say Connected To.

12. Open a web browser like Safari and go to www.uccs.edu/library. From here you can search the databases or journals.

13. Click the Disconnect button when you're finished.
