Using Virtual Private Networking (VPN)
-
Virtual private networking (VPN) serves two purposes. It provides a method for us to prove you're a
current student, staff, or faculty, and it provides an encrypted "tunnel" to secure the data
sent. Various systems at UCCS require the use of VPN on your home computer.
- Accessing the periodic databases through the Kraemer Family Library website
- Accessing your IT folders or a professor's inbox and outbox
- Access to the UCCS network with wireless
- Updating Symantec Antivirus when off campus
- When using unsecure file transfer protocol (FTP)
-
To provide the appropriate security, UCCS has three VPN servers. The following link will provide
further information so that you can make the correct configuration. You may need multiple
configurations on your computer. Just remember not to connect more than one at a time.
