Choosing and Configuring Email Clients

  • Webmail is a web-based email client that requires no configuration. It is designed for students and useful for staff and faculty when on vacation. Using a web browser such as Internet Explorer, go to webmail.uccs.edu. Complete instructions can be found by clicking the link below.
  • On a Windows computer that isn't shared, like your office or at home, we recommend Outlook as an email client configured specifically for your account. Use the links below for instructions on setting up your version of Outlook with webmail.
  • On a Macintosh computer that isn't shared, like your office or at home, we recommend Entourage as an email client configured specifically for your account. Use the links below for instructions on setting up your version of Outlook with webmail.
  • Instructions for Pine are provided, but the program is no longer supported by the IT Department. Below is the only support available for Pine. It is recommended that you choose a more fully supported email client.
  • IMPORTANT NOTE: In all cases except Webmail and Pine, we recommend setting up the account as IMAP instead of POP. When logging into a POP account, you will download all the email to the computer where you're sitting. You'll no longer be able to access the email from another computer. IMAP allows the user to access their email from multiple computers; e.g., work, home, vacation, etc. (Webmail and Pine are IMAP and cannot be changed.)
