Computer Software For University-Owned Computers

  • The Information Technology Department has site licenses for Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, and Symantec Endpoint Protection. The IT Help Desk will install these on any university-purchased computer at no cost to the departments. These site licenses do not extend to personally-owned computers.
  • Other Microsoft software for university-owned computers can be purchased from Software Spectrum at a substantial discount. Contact the Help Desk for the contact information. The Help Desk can install the software once purchased.
  • Adobe software for university-owned computers can be purchased through IT at a substantial discount. A license is required for each product for each computer. A speedtype is required. Contact Brad Cook at 262-3826. The Help Desk can install the software once purchased.
  • For SPSS or SAS licenses, email sitelic@colorado.edu. The Help Desk can install the software once purchased.
  • Someone should maintain the software invoices/licenses for your computer. This is important as they are needed if it's ever necessary to reload it onto the computer. If you're unable to provide the necessary documentation, you'll be required to repurchase it before IT is allowed to reinstall it.
  • Other software may be downloaded for free. Check the following websites.
  • Contact the IT Help Desk at 262-3536 for further information on purchasing software.
