Reconfiguring Entourage 2004 for UCCS E-Mail over SSL

NOTE: These instructions explain the configuration to the UCCS Webmail server. They will not work if you use the UCCS Exchange server (Example email address: first.lastname@ufp.uccs.edu).

These instructions assume that your UCCS email account is already added:

1. Open Keychain Access in Applications/Utilities.

2. Select the login entry under Keychains and look for imap.uccs.edu and smtp.uccs.edu entries. If you don't find these entries skip to step 4.

3. Delete the smtp.uccs.edu and imap.uccs.edu entries.

4. In Entourage, click the Entourage menu and select Account Settings.

5. Double click the UCCS account.

6. Change/Verify the following information.
  • Account Name: UCCS or you can use the current entry.
  • Name: The name you would like to appear on your email
  • E-mail address: Your UCCS email Address (i.e. username@uccs.edu)
  • Account ID: Your UCCS IT Username
  • IMAP server: imap.uccs.edu
  • Password: Uncheck Save my password in my Mac OS keychain.
  • SMTP server: smtp.uccs.edu

7. Click the Click here for advanced receiving options button.
  • Select This IMAP service requires a secure connection (SSL)
  • Override default IMAP port: Verify that it is 993. If not select the option and enter 993.

8. Click the Click here for advanced sending options.
  • SMTP service requires secure connection (SSL): Select
  • Override default SMTP port: Select and enter 465
  • SMTP server requires authentication: Select Use same settings as receiving mail server.

9. Click OK and enter your login information when prompted. Click the Send/Receive button if the prompt doesn't appear at first.
