Windows Vista Setup for Dial-Up Access to UCCS

1. Click on Start, then choose "Connect To".

2. Choose "Set up a connection or network".

3. Choose "Set up a dial-up connection", and click next.

4. Enter "5930109" for Dial-up phone number.
5. Enter your UCCS IT username and password.
6. Enter "UCCS Dial Up" for Connection name.
7. If you would like anyone who uses this computer to be able to connect to UCCS Dial-up, check the "Allow other people to use this connection" checkbox.
8. Press "Connect".

9. Press "Skip", or wait for the connection to complete. It will not be successful at this point.

10. Click "Set up the connection anyway", and close the window.

11. Open the start menu and click on "Connect to" again. Right Click on "UCCS Dial Up" and click properties.

12. Click the security tab.
13. Select "Advanced (custom settings)".
14. Click the settings button.

15. Under "Allow these protocols", uncheck everything except "Unencrypted password (PAP)". Click Ok, and then yes.

16. Select "UCCS Dial Up" in the list of connections, and click connect.


17. To reconnect in the future, first click on the Windows button then on "Connect to". Select "UCCS Dial Up" in the list of connections, and click connect.

18. To access the internet, open a browser, such as Internet Explorer. NOTE: Internet Explorer comes with Windows Vista. Click on the Start button, All Programs, and Internet Explorer. You should be able to start browsing web pages.

19. To access your email account, you need to open Internet Explorer and go to https://webmail.uccs.edu. Log in with your IT username and password. Complete Webmail instructions can be found at http://www.uccs.edu/helpdesk/webmail.htm

20. To access an IT account, click on the Start button and select Run. For your student account, type \\excelsior\students\first initial\your IT username and click the OK button; e.g. for Jane Doe, it would be \\excelsior\students\j\jdoe. For a professor's account, type \\enterprise\faculty\your professor's IT username and click the OK button; e.g. for John Smith, it might be \\enterprise\faculty\jsmith2. Information for download is normally found in a professor's Outbox. Documents to submit to a professor should be put in his/her Inbox.

21. To disconnect, double-click on the Connection icon (two little computers) in the right-hand corner of your task bar. Then click on the Disconnect from UCCS Dial Up button.
