Blackboard Username and Password Information

Blackboard uses your UCCS IT Account. This is the same username and password you use to access Webmail or the computers on campus.

Blackboard DOES NOT accept a default or expired password. If you have never changed your password or it has been over 90 days for Faculty, Staff, and Student employees or once year for Students, since you changed your password, you need change it before you can access Blackboard. Please see below for information on how to change your password.

How do I find my UCCS Username and Password?

• Go to the UCCS Username Assistance page.
  • New Students - Click on Claim Your Account
  • Current Students - Click on Who is Who
  • New Faculty, Staff - Click on Who is Who

Self Service Password Reset

• You can now reset your password using the security questions you answered when claiming your account or when you logged into a lab computer on campus.

I forgot my password. What can I do?

• If you do not remember your old password, or you did not create security questions, your password can be changed at 3 different locations on campus:
  • Help Desk (M-F 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
  • Columbine Hall Computer Lab (M-F 8:00 AM - 10:00 PM, Saturday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Sunday 12:00 PM - 9:00 PM)
  • Kraemer Family Library Computer Lab (See Library Hours) http://www.uccs.edu/~library/info/hours.html

Come to one of these locations with your Student ID and we can help you reset your password.

I know my password. Why can't I login?

• If you are Faculty, Staff, or a Student Employee your password expires every 90 days and must be changed in order to maintain access to UCCS systems.
  • To update your password, go to the UCCS Username Assistance page.
  • Click on Password Change to update your password.

• If you are a Student your password expires once every year and must be changed in order to maintain access to UCCS systems.
  • To update your password, go to the UCCS Username Assistance page.
  • Click on Password Change to update your password.

What is the UCCS Default Password?

• New staff, faculty, and students are set to

  • MmmYYN####
  where:
  • Mmm = birthmonth (e.g. January = Jan, February = Feb)
  • YY = last two numbers of your birth year
  • N = first initial of your last name
  • #### = last 4 digits of student ID number (employee ID number for staff and faculty)

How Do I Change My Password?

• You must be connected to the internet and know your current password. This link will work both on and off campus.

UCCS Password Requirements

The following rules must be used in selecting a new IT password.

• Must Meet All 4 Requirements:
  • Faculty, Staff, and Student Employees at least 8 characters long - Expires every 90 days
  • Students at least 10 characters long - Expires once every year
  • lowercase
  • UPPERcase
  • Numbers 0123456789
• CANNOT CONTAIN:
  • Previous Password
  • Your First or Last name
  • Your User name
  • It is best not to use special characters * @ # % & = : ; " ' ? / \ or a space
• Example Passwords:
