PAD 524, Administrative LawCourse Description: This course examines the development of American administrative law and its relationship to regulations and legislative/administrative processes. Students will study the nature of the legal process and its compatibility with the administrative processes, and exposure to the regulatory process and its impact on the delivery of public programs will be included.
Quizzes: A ten-minute quiz will be given at the beginning of class. The quiz question will touch some aspect of the reading assigned for that day. No make-up quizzes will be given, but the lowest quiz grade will be dropped and the remainder averaged.
Grades: If attendance is regular, the course grade will normally be based about 1/3rd on quizzes, and about 2/3rds on examinations.
Attendance: A student who is absent more than 20% of the time during which the class meets for the purpose of instruction (usually equaling about 3 entire class periods) will have his or her course grade lowered by one letter. If absent more than 40% (usually equaling about 6 entire class periods), course grade will be lowered by two letters. And a student who is absent half or more of the time during which the class meets for the purpose of instruction will not be given a passing grade in the course no matter how high his or her grades may be in exams and quizzes.
