Coleman Institute for Cognitive Disabilities

The Coleman Institute for Cognitive Disabilities was established in 2001 by the Regents of the University of Colorado. The Coleman InstituteA private endowment and sustained annual contributions by our founding donors, William T. and Claudia L. Coleman, support the Institutes's activities. The Institute is headed by David Braddock, PhD, Associate Vice President of the University of Colorado, who serves as Executive Director. Enid Ablowitz is the Institute's Associate Director.

The Institute's mission is to catalyze and integrate advances in science, engineering and technology to promote the quality of life and independent living of people with cognitive disabilities.

Since 2004, the CICD has generously funded Coleman Fellows who are training in clinical psychology with an emphasis in aging. Additional funding has supported research projects and travel to conferences. One Coleman Fellow, Heidi Layton, was funded to attend the International Special Olympics in Beijing. The following have been Coleman Fellows at UCCS, all of whom are preparing for careers in which they will conduct research related to cognitive disabilities in later life:
