Constitution
and Bylaws
Preamble
Whereas
we believe that a group of university students interested int he
fields of geography and geology should organize for mutual
benefit, we hereby established the UCCS Geo Club.
ARTICLE
I. PURPOSE
The
Purpose of the UCCS Geo Club shall be:
a. To foster
scientific study and research in the field of Earth sciences
b. To develop better understanding and appreciation of
geographical and geological problems on a local, national and
international level
c. To record progress in Earth Sciences through recognition of
outstanding individual efforts in research, papers and projects
d. To promote positive community relations through participation
in local affairs
ARTICLE
II. MEMBERSHIP
Membership
in the UCCS Geo Club shall be open to any and all persons.
ARTICLE
III. OFFICERS
Section
1. The officers shall be: President, Vice President, Secretary,
and Treasurer
Section 2.
Officers shall be elected int he spring of each year to serve the
following year
Section 3.
Voting for officers shall be by open nominations from the floor
and by a show of hands
ARTICLE
IV. DUTIES OF OFFICERS
Section
1. The President's duties shall be to preside at and organize all
meetings.
Section 2. The Vice President shall perform the duties of the
President in the President's absence. In the event of vacancy of
the Presidency for any reason, the Vice President shall succeed
to the Presidency.
> Section 3. The Secretary shall keep all records, handle
written correspondence, perform related duties as the President
delegates, and prepare a written report of each meeting which
will be read at the next meeting.
Section 4. The Treasurer shall collect all funds and deposit them
in an account on behalf of the Geo Club, make all necessary
expenditures when authorized by the President and the Facility
Advisor, keep financial records, submit a written financial
report to the club at the last regular meeting of each semester.
ARTICLE
VI. RECORDS
The records of
the UCCS Geo Club shall consist of a minutes book, membership
records and financial records as well as any other such records
as the membership deems necessary.
ARTICLE
VII. BYLAWS AND AMENDMENTS
Section 1. This
constitution, together with its bylaws, shall constitute the
operating basis of the organization.
Section 2. The constitution may be amended by a majority vote of
the members present with proper notification having first been
given to the entire membership.
Section 3. Bylaws may be added or amended by a majority vote of
the members present after proper notificaiton of the membership.
BYLAWS
Number
1. UCCS Geo Club dues shall be $2 per year paid to the Treasurer
whose responsibility will be to issue membership cards (or
receipts) to each membership so paid.
Number 2. A copy of the constitution of the UCCS Geo Club shall
be provided for each of the elected officers, as well as the
Faculty Advisor. The constitution will be reviewed annually to
insure that it is in keeping with the needs and activities of the
club.
Number 3. The number, location and times of meetings shall be
determined by the President and Faculty Advisor. Notice of such
meetings shall be posted not less than five days in advance of
the date set for the meeting.
