Turn in all parts:   For the region bounded by f(x) = x^2 - 1, the x-axis, x=1, and x=3:

1)  Draw four approximating rectangles for the area, using LEFT hand endpoints.

2)  Find L_4, the sum of the areas of the four approximating rectangles

3) On the same set of axes, draw eight approximating rectangles for the area, again using left hand endpoints.

4)  Find L_8, the sum of the areas of the eight approximating rectangles.

5)  Find an expression for L_n, the sum of the areas of the rectangles gotten by using  n  approximating rectangles (and left and endpoints).

6)  Find the EXACT area of the region by the limit of L_n as n ----> infinity. 

Here is a graph of f(x),  you can print this and use it to draw your rectangles.  Do your computation of the exact area on a separate sheet of paper.
