Learning Communities

We're happy you're here!

As a freshman, you will find that UCCS has a lot to offer you to help you transition into college and find your niche. We want UCCS to feel like your new home and want to encourage you to take advantage of the many opportunities that exist to make your college experience all you hoped it would be and more.

Our freshman learning communities are a great place to get a jump start on your college experience. As a member of a freshman learning community you become both academically and socially connected to a small group of 15 to 20 other freshman. You get to know your professors and your peers as you learn together through your coursework, field trips, service learning, and spending time together outside of class. Participating in a learning community is a great way to make UCCS feel like home sooner as well as a great way to help you to become more academically successful. Students who participate in learning communities generally achieve higher grades and are more successful when compared to their peers who did not participate in a learning community.
