Financial Aid

How and When to Apply for Aid

How Do I Get Financial Aid?

Fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA):

  • Complete the FAFSA online at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov. Paper and braile copies of the FAFSA can be obtained from the Financial Aid Office. We recommend that you complete your FAFSA online; if you do, you will need to obtain a PIN from the Department of Education PIN site
  • If the information you provided in the initial FAFSA application changes, contact the Financial Aid Office as soon as possible.

Get Admitted as a Degree Seeking Student

  • Obtain an application for admission from our website or the office of Admissions and Records
  • We recommend you complete the online application for faster processing.

Complete the UCCS Scholarship Application:

Review the Student Aid Report (SAR):

  • After the FAFSA has been received, the results will be sent to the Financial Aid Office (assuming you listed us on the form). You will receive the SAR by email or mail.
  • Please review the SAR for discrepancies. If you need to make revisions, please contact the Financial Aid Office.

Complete your Financial Aid File:

  • Students will be notified if additional documentation is necessary. Documents must be submitted before aid will be disbursed.

Complete Loan Process (if applicable):

  • Complete loan entrance counseling on our website or by watching a video in our Office.
  • Complete a loan application which is available online or at the Financial Aid Office.

Financial Aid Disbursed:

  • Financial aid will be applied to your bill once we have determined and verified your eligibility. Any excess financial aid will be distributed to you once your bill has been paid.

When Do I Need to Apply?

  • Submit the FAFSA and your application for admission by March 1st. This should give you ample processing time to meet the April 1st priority date.
  • The UCCS Scholarship Application and information about other available scholarships, including deadlines is available online. Most scholarships have a March 1st deadline.

Please Note

  • Your Financial Aid awards are based upon the information provided on the FAFSA at the time of packaging (usually around mid-April). If your information changes (i.e. if you estimate tax return information) then your awards may also change.
  • Awards are not final until all information is reviewed by the Financial Aid Office, and are subject to change at any time.
