Grants

Federal Pell Grant

  • Need-based grant which does not have to be repaid.
  • Grant may be used for any educational expense, such as tuition and fees, room and board and living expenses.
  • Available to undergraduate students.
  • To apply for the grant, complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
  • Students are notified of eligibility on the Student Aid Report (SAR).
  • The amount of the Federal Pell Grant is calculated by the college's financial aid administrator using the SAR information.

Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG)

  • Need-based grant which does not have to be repaid.
  • Available to first or second year students in a two or four year degree program.
  • Available to full-time students who are U.S citizens, eligible for a Federal Pell Grant, who had successfully completed a rigorous high school program, as determined by the state or local education agency and recognized by the Secretary of Education.
  • Second year students must have maintained a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0.
  • The program will be available for the first time for the 2006-07 school year for first year students who graduated from high school after January 1, 2006 and for second year students who graduated from high school after January 1, 2005.
  • The Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG) award is in addition to the student's Pell Grant award.
  • Apply for the ACG grant by completing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent Grant (SMART grant)

  • Need-based grant which does not have to be repaid.
  • Available to third or fourth year students in a four year degree program.
  • Available to full-time students who are U.S. citizens, eligible for a Federal Pell Grant, and majoring in physical, life, or computer sciences, mathematics, technology, or engineering or in a foreign language determined critical to national security.
  • Students must have maintained a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 in coursework required for the major.
  • The National SMART Grant award is in addition to the student's Pell Grant award.
  • Apply for the National SMART grant by completing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)

  • Need-based grant which does not need to be repaid. First priority for this grant is given to Federal Pell Grant recipients.
  • Available to undergraduate students with financial need.
  • The amount a student could receive depends on the student's need and the availability of funds at the college.
  • Apply for SEOG by completing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Colorado Student Grant (CSG)

  • Need-based grant
  • Must be undergraduate student.
  • Must be a Colorado resident
  • Apply for CSG by completing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Colorado Graduate Grant(CGG)

  • Need-based grant
  • Award may equal one-half cost of education up to $4,000.
  • Only graduate students are eligible.
  • Only Colorado residents are eligible.
  • Apply for CGG by completing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Colorado Leveraging Educational Assistance Grants (CLEAP)

  • A combination of federal and state funds awarded by the same criteria as CSG.
