What's New
  • 121809 Posted Final Exam scores and final grades.
  • 121809 I recently discovered that through a series of misunderstandings and miscommunications, some TAs were telling students that they could count a missed lab as a drop, instead of it counting as a strike. While this is completely contrary to departmental policy, we can't have students being promised something and then having it retracted. So... After three iterations I have:
    • dropped your lowest lab report score, even if it was a missed lab,
    • recalculated your percentage out of 330 total,
    • and posted your corrected overall lab percentage in the lab WebCT site's gradebook. I apologize for all the confusion.
  • 121709 Posted lab scores. Please note that if you accumulated 3 strikes in lab, your lab score will show up as a zero.
  • 121409 Posted Solution to Final Exam.
  • 120909 Your homework total (HTot) now reflects having dropped your lowest homework score.
  • 120409 Posted scores for Quiz 4.
  • 120209 Posted Solution to Quiz 4.
  • 120209 As of the end of Chapter 13, we have reached the cap on clicker points. Any additional points you accumulate from Chapter 14 (there are 39 of them) will serve to increase your total, but not the absolute total, thereby increasing your percentage points (up to 100%).
  • 111809 Posted scores for Exam 3.
  • 111609 Posted Solution to Exam 3.
  • 110409 Class is cancelled for tonight!

  • 083109 Posted Clicker Questions for Chapter 1.
  • 083109 Please note that in this H1N1 flu season I will not require a doctor's note for an influenza-like illness. The CDC recommends that ill individuals with influenza symptoms self-isolate in their homes or dorm rooms and not attend class or work until 24 hours after their fever is gone (without the help of medicines such as Tylenol or Ibuprofen). This can sometimes take as long as seven days.
    • Please email me though (or call if you don't have email access), so we can work out the best accommodations for you.
    • If you have a fever along with flu-like symptoms and feel like you need to speak to medical personnel, you should call the Student Health Center at 719-255-4444 (x4444 from an on-campus phone). Staff will determine if you need to come in for further evaluation, or if you should remain at home or in your dorm room and rest.
  • 082709 Posted clicker points. Please be aware that at this time the clicker points are a grossly disproportionate part of your grade (100% of it, actually!). By the end of the semester that will have dropped to 10%.
  • 082709 Posted scores for the Reality Check. We will talk about these on Monday.
  • 082709 As I noted last night, I'll postpone Homework 1 by one class period.
  • 082609 If you are not able to get a textbook, PDFs of the first three chapters are available in Blackboard.
  • 082509 I just today learned that the Testing Center is now charging $5 a pop for you to take a quiz or an exam early. Sorry 'bout that. (IMHO, this sucks.)
