Global Engagement Office: Education Abroad

Program Types

UCCS offers students interested in studying abroad four different types of programs: exchanges, direct enrollment, program providers (third-party), and faculty-directed.

Provider Programs

Provider programs are organized by companies and other universities that facilitate education abroad experiences for students. These Program Providers offer a great variety of school and countries to choose from. These programs allow you to further explore the kind(s) of study experiences you want to have: intensive language study, service-learning, travel programs, field studies, and volunteer opportunities.

Exchange Programs

Exchange programs allow you to trade places with a student from one of our partner institutions abroad. Because there is an "exchange" between students, you generally pay what you would pay if you were spending the semester here at UCCS (tuition and fees). There are two types of exchange programs here at UCCS:

College-Specific Exchanges: Certain colleges here at UCCS have established exchange agreements with institutions abroad specifically for their majors. For example, the College of Business has developed specific agreements below for their students only.

  • Frankfurt School of Finance and Management (Germany)
  • International School of Management (Germany)
  • Stockholm Business School (Sweden)
  • BI Norwegian Business School (Norway)
  • Munich Business School (Germany)

University-Wide Exchanges: UCCS has established agreements with institutions abroad that allow all students (regardless of major) to attend these universities.

  • Bilgi Istanbul University (Turkey)
  • Cologne Business School (Germany)
  • Institut Catholique d' Etudes Superieures (France)
  • Management Center Innsbruck (Austria)
  • Universidad de Guadalajara (Mexico)
  • Waseda University (Japan)
  • University of Castilla-La Mancha (Spain)
  • Southern Institute of Technology (New Zealand)
  • University of Hertfordshire (England)
  • Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (South Korea)
  • Radbound University (Netherlands)
  • Peruvian University of Applied Sciences (Peru)
  • Loughborough University (England)
  • University of Guadalajara (Mexico)

National Student Exchange (NSE): National Student allows you the opportunity to exchange for a semester or academic year at over 200 campuses around the United States, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, Guam and Canada. For more details, please contact Heidi Wardell. Learn more about National Student Exchange.

Direct Enroll Programs

Direct enrollment programs allow you to to enroll directly into a foreign university. Rather than paying UCCS as you would on an exchange program, you pay all fees, including tuition and fees and housing to the host institution.

Faculty-Directed Programs

Faculty-Directed programs allow you to study abroad under the guidance and supervision of a UCCS faculty member with a group of UCCS students. These programs are generally short-term that run during the spring, winter, and summer breaks.
