Science Education Tests

Yes, tests are a part of life in school. Other than required tests in your classes, these are a few you need to be aware of:

Testing out of Ed.C. 400/500 and Ed.C. 402/502

(Pick up flyer at 3023 Columbine Hall for Dates and more detailed information)

Call (719) 262-4996 to sign up for taking the Waiver Exam at one of the times listed on the flyer.

Generally, you can expect to test out successfully if:

  • are an experienced teacher who has used the computer in the classroom and has taken some short in-service courses covering advanced technologies
  • have had a class covering: computer assisted instruction, computers in process writing, writing tools for students, database management and the development of higher order thinking skills, spreadsheet use for hypothesis testing and pattern recognition, communication tools, hypermedia, interactive videodisc technologies for learning, CD-ROM applications, integrating technology into the curriculum, teacher utilities, and the management of school technology, and hands-on experience with all of these applications.

(Expert users of computers with no knowledge of the education research base and little experience in computer use in teaching do not successfully test out of these classes.)

Final Comprehensive
Exam

This final exam usually consists of 3 questions based on students’ program of study. It is written by 3 different instructors.

Enroll to take the exam during the last semester of enrollment. The sooner you ask about it; the better off you will be. Contact the School of Education at (719) 262- 4996 to get your name on the list of people who will be completing the comps.

If postponing the final exam to the next term, register for the final exam (CURR 999) and pay the required fee.

If you are interested in doing your exam orally, discuss with your advisor about requesting an oral exam with the written final exam.

If you are interested in doing a thesis instead of comps, discuss this option with your advisor.

If you have failed your first attempt, request permission to be examined 3 months after the first attempt.
