ALP
(Alternative Licensure Program)

If you are interested in becoming a teacher at the K-12 level, this Alternative Licensure Program may be for you. ALP is an extremely fast-paced program that leads to initial licensure in Elementary and Secondary levels in the fields of English, Spanish, mathematics, science, or social studies.

This program is part-time during the Spring and Summer Semesters with classes in evenings and on weekends during the first year. You will gain an Alternative license from the Colorado Department of Education during your second year which will allow you to teach as a resident teacher. After completing this program is when the initial licensure, which is valid for 3 years, is available to you.

To gain a Master of Arts degree in Curriculum and Instruction, you have to complete 30 semester hours, which is 9-13 semester hours more than the ALP and includes a final project.

This program admits from 25-35 qualified candidates a year.

Admissions will show you what you need to do to be accepted into this program and what to do to start the admission process.

Advice will show you what core classes you need to take, what classes are available now, and what tests you will be required to take during the program. Advising is extremely important.

CU- The Springs Schedule of Courses will show you the classes available this semester and next semester with updated classroom locations and changes.
