Coming
Events
Welcome to the September 2009 installment of
Null's Nuggets! I hope you enjoy this month's article. With the new
semester well on its way CSGI has a huge line-up of very informative and
interesting events.
Tuesday, October 20, 2009, CSGI
and the Political Science Department co-sponsored a John Jay Institute funded
presentation by Professor Michael Ward "C. S. Lewis on Power and
Politics: Thoughts on the Reconciliation of Conservatives and
Liberals." Given the high visibility of President Obama's health care
goals and the conflict over them, this was an interesting
presentation. There was no charge for this event. The event was held
in the Upper Lodge on the UCCS campus.
I have decided that this newsletter edition of Null's Nuggets will focus on
these great upcoming events that CSGI will be sponsoring this year.
I look forward to seeing you there!
Sincerely,
James A. Null

NULL'S NUGGETS: SEPTEMBER, 2009
This year the Center is sponsoring a number of exciting events for you to
attend. Be sure to make your reservations early because seating is limited
in many of these events.
Thursday, November 19, 2009, CSGI
will be hosting a luncheon for community leaders, downtown Antlers Hilton.
This presentation will be very limited in size. Only 30 leaders from our
community will be able to attend. We will be hosting a highly popular
speaker from the city of Austin, Texas who has played a vital role in the
successful economic development for that city. If you are a community
leader and interested in attending, please contact Jane Muller, jmuller@uccs.edu or
719.255.4093 and she can reserve a space for you. As of the publication of
this newsletter the space is almost gone!
Thursday, December 16, 2009, the
Second Annual "State of the Financial Condition of
Public Higher Education in El Paso County" will be offered at
the downtown Antlers Hilton as a lunch time event. UCCS Chancellor Pamela
Shockley-Zalabak and Pikes Peak Community College President Tony Kinkel will be
giving presentations about the current status of Higher Education in the state
of Colorado. Get your reservations in early!
Spring 2010 we have scheduled two events at this
point in time:
We will be hosting a Dinner Conversation presentation event on Thursday, March 11, 2010, featuring Pelican
Institute President, Kevin Kane. He will talk about New Orleans and the major
changes being made there in the restructuring of the public education. A
major focus of his talk will be on the use of Charter Schools and whether or not
they are being successful at this point. This talk will be limited as
usual to about 90 participants. Get your reservations in!
CSGI will be co-sponsoring the
Annual SPA Leadership Conference at UCCS on Thursday, April
8, 2010. We will be bringing in David Osborne and Delore
Zimmerman. This conference will be limited in space and there will be a
charge for the event but, there will be a considerable discount for registering
through CSGI.
I hope you agree that this is an exciting plan for the Academic Year and will
feel free to call us with any questions that you might have. 1.719.255.4093.
