Commuter / Off Campus Student

            Campus Life

"Yes, Virginia, there is life outside the classroom!"

Have you ever seen the movie, Miracle on 34th Street, where a little girl named Virginia asks if there really is a Santa Claus?  Similarly, we find that many students who come to campus ask, "Is there life outside of class?"  The answer is YES!

The challenge for commuter/off campus students is to get involved.  Some students believe the myth that college is about going to class, going to the library, and going home.  Those who do are short-changing themselves and their college experience.  There's a LOT of life that occurs outside the classroom, here's just a sample:

  • Learn team building skills as a member of an intramural team,
  • or leadership skills as an officer in a student organization,
  • or the importance of giving to the community through participation in a service project.

AND, there are endless opportunities to have fun, meet people, and become a part of the University community, like:

  • catch a concert,
  • need a laugh? See a comedian,
  • attend athletic events and cheer for the home team,
  • and much, much more.

The Refuge for Organizations, Activities, and Recreation (ROAR) Office is your doorway to campus life and the other half of your collegiate experience.  Located on the first floor of the University Center, directly across from the Information Desk, the ROAR Office includes:
