Developed by the Oral Communication Center Staff

What do spiders, death and public speaking have in common? They're America's top three greatest fears-- but can you guess what order they're in? Public speaking is the number one fear of Americans today, which means people would rather be in the coffin than delivering the eulogy. Public speaking anxiety is something all speakers face, no matter how experienced they are. This workshop describes public speaking anxiety, ways of recognizing it, the physical and mental symptoms, and, most importantly, numerous ways to surmount it. Take this workshop to decrease your speech apprehension and stand in front of your audience with more confidence than you ever thought possible!

Interview Skills
PowerPoint Version; Voice-Over Version

interviewworkshop

Developed by Todd Waters

There are two methods of viewing this workshop. One link is to a PowerPoint slide-show, where users can flip through the slides as they please. The second leads to a movie that goes through the entire slide-show with Todd's voice-over, discussing and elaborating on pertinent facts from each slide. This was designed to suit the needs of both visual and auditory learners.

This workshop is an extensive examination of the interview process, starting with finding a job and ending with post-interview etiquette and proceedings. This workshop is designed to help students better understand methods of communicating in an interview, and giving expert, well researched advice on how to analyze, interpret, and understand different kinds of interviews. Finally, it focuses on the importance of mock interviews, and encourages students to set up an appointment in the Comm. Center to help them ace their next interview.
