Kyla Hammond, Ph. D., Executive Director, Enrollment Operations and Extended Studies

Portrait of Kyla HammondDr. Kyla Hammond has 14 years’ experience in education, serving as an English instructor, professional development coordinator, and higher education administrator. She is currently Executive Director of Enrollment Management and Extended Studies for the College of Education at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.  

She oversees extended studies and online education, all enrollment operations, and has recently created a new Office of Global Education.  Her areas of expertise are implementing entrepreneurial models in higher education, enrollment management, strategic planning, personnel motivation, organizational leadership, and Global education.

 

Anthony J. Shull, Director, Office of Global Education

Portrait of Anthony ShullMA TESL, Anthony Shull has 7 years’ experience working in business serving as a General Merchandising Manager and Regional Merchandising Manager and 11 years’ experience in higher education as an Associate Instructor, Department Chair and Regional English Academy Coordinator. Mr. Shull presently works as the Director of Global Education within the College of Education at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.

His responsibilities are the day-to-day academic operations of the Daegu Gyeongbuk English Village in South Korea and the direction of the Office of Global Education which oversees International Partnering, International Programs and International Certificate Development for the College of Education. His areas of expertise are strategic and scorecard planning, inter-disciplinary projects, team building, international partnership development, ESL instruction and programming, and educational program innovation.

Debby Jennings, Liason, Office of Global Education

Portrait of Debby Jennings...is an international educator that thrives in multi-cultural environments. She has a Masters in International Relations from East Carolina University. Networking and information dissemination is second nature in her work to provide innovative instruction based on the educational needs of individuals, communities, and organizations, no matter where they are located.

Prior to coming to work for the Daegu Project at UCCS, Debby lived and worked abroad. Her career has taken her to Japan, Germany, France, India, The Netherlands, as well as, the United States.

Her teaching, research, writing, and public speaking experiences have opened new windows of opportunity for international educational exchange for which she is a strong advocate. Debby especially enjoys setting up new programs that can serve as models and lead to replication in other locations. She believes that the Daegu English Village is just such a model.

Carla Rupprecht, Program Coordinator, Extended Studies

Portrait of Carla RupprechtCarla Rupprecht is a person that strongly supports multiculturalism in all forms. She completed an undergraduate degree of Anthropology at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, and is now pursuing a Masters in Public Administration. As a student on the campus, Carla was heavily involved in diversity initiatives around the campus. During her years working in Extended Studies, she has had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of programs and educational needs around the country, and also organizing several diversity events for the College of Education.

Carla is dedicated to expanding the programs and initiatives that are global in perspective, with the idea of having a globally linked economy, the more interaction between global people, the richer our cultures become.

Georgina Segura, Stateside Coordinator, Daegu English Village

Portrait of Georgina Segura...is the mother of two teenage children. She has a beautiful and intelligent 17-year-old daughter, and a wonderfully considerate and outgoing 15-year-old son. Georgina has a love for the ocean since she was born in Key West, Florida and still visits family there as much as possible. However, her love for the mountains is what keeps her in Colorado Springs, Colorado. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family and working on home remodeling projects. Georgina is currently a senior nearing graduation with dual degrees: Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Bachelor of Arts of Science in Nursing.

Her extensive background working for UCCS, Pikes Peak Community College, Hewlett Packard, MCI WorldCom, and culturally diverse clients from around the world contributes positively to the Daegu English Village program.

She serves as the Coordinator for the stateside Daegu English Village Team. She believes the partnership between UCCS - College of Education and Yeungjin College - Daegu English Village will set a great example of working towards global friendship.

Additionally, she believes that what is encountered on an individuals life journey is what makes a person complete. On her journey, all of the experiences and challenges whe has encountered will continue to define and enrich her as an individual.
